This photo of the week was captured at Vicksburg, MS National  Military Park while we were following the Mississippi River from Natchez to Memhis.
It was one of many I had taken in the battlefield and was unique because all of the statue was in the shade  so that I could capture maximum detail. This is not the entire statue only part of it and it honors the State of Wisconsin.
The park includes 1,325 historic monuments and markers, 20 miles  of historic trenches and earthworks, a 16-mile  tour road, and a 12.5-mile  walking trail. We drove. It is a fun drive with lots of overlooks and stopoffs  by monuments and statues. In color you tend to lose a lot of detail but black & white captures it. This will become one of my many photos of the Mississippi River exhibit.
